What is a webinar?
A webinar is an acronym for Web-based Seminar. Attending a webinar is like attending any seminar apart from the place where the event takes place.
Instead of meeting in a conference room we will meet in a virtual conference room on the web. Joining a meeting does not take long – just follow the instructions, which you will receive after you have registered.
Once you have logged in you can sit back and listen to the presentation on the phone while watching it on your screen. If you wish to ask a question you can virtually "raise your hand" by clicking on the hand symbol which will appear on your screen. or you can type your question directly into the questions area.
Webinar FAQ
How do I register for the webinar? Click the "register" link next to the webinar listing under
Upcoming Webinars. After submitting your completed form you'll receive an email with a link to join the webinar at its scheduled time.
How do I join the webinar at the scheduled time? Click the “Join a Webinar” button or link in your confirmation email, which will be automatically sent to you after registering. You do not need to pre-install any software prior to joining the webinar.
How will I hear the presentation? There are two options to accessing the audio portion of the webinar, via a toll phone number or via your computer speakers. Details on both will be included with your webinar confirmation.
Do I need special software or need to install a program to attend the webinar? You do not need to pre-install any software prior to joining the webinar. You do need to make sure your computer meets the technology requirements listed below.
Technology requirements for a PC computer:
- Internet Explorer® 6.0 or newer, Mozilla® Firefox® 3.0 or newer (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled)
- Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2003 Server or 2000
- Cable modem, DSL or better Internet connection
- Minimum of Pentium® class 1GHz CPU with 512 MB of RAM (Recommended) (2 GB of RAM for Windows® Vista)
- Participants wishing to connect to audio using VoIP will need a fast Internet connection (384 kbps or more recommended), a microphone and speakers (a USB headset is recommended).
